Getting to Stornoway…

We envisage that most people coming to the gathering will be travelling by ferry and for bookings you should head over to CalMac (Caledonian MacBrayne). There are a number options the main ones being direct from Ullapool to Stornoway or alternatively via Uig (in Skye) to Tarbert (in Harris) which is around an hour from Stornoway.

Please note that the 20 October is the last day of the Summer Timetable and you will need to take account of this when booking. In particular there is a reduced service to Skye in the winter months.

Should you be flying then Highlands and Islands Airports have a schedule flight finder which gives details of the flights to and from the airports in the North of Scotland. British Airways franchise Loganair operates from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness on a daily basis. Highland Airways operate a six day a week service from Inverness to Stornoway. Eastern Airways have one return flight Monday to Friday from Aberdeen to Stornoway.

Places to stay…

Information about places to stay can be found on the accommodation pages of the Visit Hebrides website. The site is not exhaustive and if you’re having any problem finding what you want then let us know. October is in the quiet season, but we would recommend booking in advance. You might want to bear in mind that evening events are based in An Lanntair in the centre of Stornoway. The only facility that’s not close to hand being a campsite!
